There’s lots of sayings for being constipated.
I’m backed up, blocked, I haven’t made a deposit at the porcelain bank, I feel bloated, I must be dehydrated, I’ve eaten too much crap, I haven’t taken a crap, I need to drop the kids off at the pool, I think I need to eat more fibre, OMG… my stomach 😩
What ever it is, we’ve all felt like we need to give our tummies some help in doing their job (love a pun).
Beetroots offer so many health benefits including being high in antioxidants, blood cleansing, help to reduce blood pressure, help with liver function, and get those bowels moving!
Beetroot salad served with risotto, chicken & steamed broccoli.
1 large beetroot
Dressing
1 lemon – juice and zest
¼ cup olive oil
1 garlic clove, finely sliced
mint leaves
- Wash and cut the beetroot in half
- Place in a stove top steamer and steam for 20 minutes
- Set aside to cool, then peel.
- Dice and mix with the dressing ingredients
- Have as a side to meals
